Auckland Connected Systems User Group

The Auckland Connected Systems User Group was launched at the end of May 2008. We have meetings in Auckland, New Zealand, every other month unless we get an impromptu speaker. On this website you will find information about the group's meetings, register for meetings, subscribe to our newsletter and get the latest group news.

This Microsoft user group was created to bring together everyone working with or interested in BizTalk, WCF, WF and other connected systems technologies.

BizTalk Roadmap - Myles Matheson
In this session we discuss the product roadmap for the Microsoft BizTalk Server integration and business process automation server solution. We also cover building applications using BizTalk Server and the Windows Server AppFabric set of integrated technologies.
Myles Matheson is a Solution Specialist for Microsoft New Zealand. He has worked in the field of data warehousing and business intelligence for the last 11 years both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He has focused on the delivery of business intelligence projects, project management, the training of staff in business intelligence, and the development of the data delivery methodologies. He has a wide experience of Business Intelligence technologies that are currently deployed in the market place.

Demystifying BizTalk Business Activity Monitoring (BAM)
BizTalk Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) is an often misunderstood and underutilized feature that comes as part of BizTalk. Ryan will go over the basics of BAM, its uses and capabilities, and show how you can use it to monitor, capture and analyse business data from your enterprise applications written in BizTalk, WCF, WF and other .NET solutions.
Ryan CrawCour is a passionate, experienced, professional who has worked in the IT industry for over 14 years with over 8 years of Microsoft BizTalk Server experience, achieving solid experience in enterprise solutions, product development systems integration projects. He has a solid track record and history of managing and leading development teams to successful implementations throughout his varied career. Ryan is active on the Microsoft Speaker panel and presents regularly at a number of conferences around the world. His past speaking engagements include TechEd Africa, Microsoft Partner Summit and Microsoft DevDays. During previous appearances at TechEd, Ryan has not only led breakout sessions, but has participated in running Hands-on Labs, Chalk ‘n Talk interactive sessions, “Ask the Experts” and has appeared in a number of TechEd Online videos.
As a past member of the Microsoft BizTalk Virtual Technical Specialist team he has worked closely with Microsoft and their partners around the world to architect and deliver solutions within the integration space. A large focus has been on delivering SOA and ESB solutions on the Microsoft technology stack using products like Microsoft BizTalk Server, WCF and WF. Ryan is active in the community and presents regularly at a number of community user groups to help highlight new technologies and increase the awareness and understanding within the community of new ways to design and develop business solutions.

Make up your own mind when you understand the what, why, where, when and how of cloud computing, what it means for IT in NZ, and a look at the Windows Azure offering and other Online Services from Microsoft.
Scott Wylie leads the Developer and Platform Strategy Group at Microsoft in New Zealand which means working with the DPE team to excite customers and communities about Microsoft's new and emerging technologies. He was previously the NZ practice manager for Microsoft Services. Prior to Microsoft he worked in Australia, the UK and the US in a variety of ISV and corporate environments – having started his career in the early 80’s as an IBM 370 assembler programmer! After hours he can be found playing with his band 'President Gas' and spending time with his family.

Windows Communication Foundation Primer - Ulrich Roxburgh

In this session Ulrich introduces Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), delivered as part of the .NET 3.5 framework. Learn the basics of WCF and see how to create HTTP/XML based web services, and then learn about other binding and encoding options such as TCP/IP and Binary. Also learn how to create REST based services, and consume these using AJAX web pages.
